Kaj Busch states in one of his articles on chironomid fishing at Eucumbene that this particular fly is extremely effective when targeting picky trout when balling midge are on the menu. The soft flue located at the bottom of the feather is used to construct this fly which is very life like in that it is soft just like the ball of mating midge.
