This fly was brought into the store by a client who had only just returned from the Mataura River. He was ranting and raving about a fly that was doing a lot of damage over there and gave me one simple sample. Just looking at it you could tell it dynamite. A good profile, tightly backed wire body to ensure a quick descent, a flash back and beadhead, the list goes on. So without even trilling them we sent off our one copy and had them done en masse. Here is the result. A brilliant fly that works in so many situations that it should always be carried in various colours and sizes. This is the only fly that we have encountered in over ten years full time guiding that can match the flashback pheasant tail for overall effectiveness. Leave them out of your fly box at your own risk. Oh yeah, Geoff says turn your back to the water when tying them on or you may end up with a fish leaping out of the water for it …but then again we all know Geoff!!!
