The green version of the Copper John is another deadly variation that so far has brained the trout of the Goulburn River. Accounting for many fish this past autumn we cannot wait for spring when the caddis are again on the go. This fly worked well for us in NZ on the faster rivers where caddisflies proliferate. Rivers like the Clutha and the Waiau were easy pickings for our clients when fishing this pattern. Typically this fly is fished below an indicator, a stimulator being the first choice. Fish over all likely water paying particular attention to current seams and gravel bar drop offs. If there are good numbers of caddis in the rivers you fish, then make sure you have some of these.
