This parachute pattern is tied on a curved hook which means much of the body is suspended beneath the waters surface. The parachute hackle keeps it floating the right way up every time and the body hanging below is perfect when imitating many mayfly species that are either resting before making the break through the meniscus or are crippled while trying. A great fly for early in the hatch when fish are breaking the surface with backs and dorsal fins but not their beaks!
