The Most Common Questions.......

Are my Credit Card details secure?

Yes. Everyone hears about the odd problems that have occurred with Credit Card transactions online but no-one talks about the millions of successful, secure transfers that occur daily. We put our reputation on the online services we offer and have worked very hard to bring you the best possible security available. As such we have a permanent web staff member and took a year to research and plan a strategy to bring our valued customers secure online transactions. We have achieved this by working closely with the ANZ Bank and their E-Gate system and have been successfully operating it since 1999 without a single incident. Once you finalise your order your details are encrypted and sent to the ANZ servers where the transaction is completed in a secure environment. We feel this is the most secure service available, using the ANZ to transact the sale brings the consumer unprecedented security while shopping online.

Is your whole site secure?

No. No site is. That is not an issue as your details are only entered at the very end when you checkout. This means that while you are browsing the site there is no reference to who you are or what your credit card details are. It is only when you proceed to the checkout stage and you are asked to input your credit card details that security is necessary. Think of it like walking around a shop browsing and collecting items in a trolley. You don't have to produce your credit card as you select the various items as you shop, rather only at the end when you are ready to leave and pay for the goods. Same thing happens with our Online Shop. You just choose the items as you browse and when ready to checkout you will be asked for your credit card details to complete the transaction. Once you hit checkout and begin filling in your personal details, be they credit card info or personal details, the entire process is secure and encrypted.

How do I know when I am on a secure part of the site?

The connection between your web browser and the web page is known as a ‘socket connection’. In general, where you see ‘http://’ when viewing a web page, you are not operating in a secure environment. What this means is that any data that you enter on that web page is sent over the Internet without encryption, or scrambling. This data could be intercepted and read by someone else. One way of addressing this is to use encryption, so that information is automatically encoded, or scrambled, before it is sent through the Internet. Information is then automatically decoded, or unscrambled, after it reaches its destination.

The industry accepted encryption algorithm is the RSA 128 bit standard within a Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Standard SSL encryption keys are 40 bits long and enable secure transactions. Longer encryption keys, such as 56 and 128 bit keys, make it even more difficult for hackers to decrypt intercepted data.

A secure connection is specifically noted by ‘https://’ and can also be identified by the occurrence of a ‘padlock’ symbol at the bottom of the browser page. You can hold your mouse pointer over the padlock and find out the level of encryption.

When this level of security measure is provided by a merchant, everything that you type into your browser is scrambled before it is sent over the Internet. Under these conditions, it is unlikely that your credit card details would be compromised.
