The name drake first appeared in the history of English fly fishing in 1496 and then again in 1676 and they were talking about the adult Mayfly and the use of male duck feathers.    This fly has evolved because of a similar fly in Australia being the adult form of the Kosciuszko Mayfly dun.                                                                      An interesting aspect, apart from being the largest, is it is one of the few burrowing nymphs in the rivers of Australia.
