High Banks and no Hoppers
On our recent trip to New Zealand to the Southland region we encountered trout feeding along high banks . Just like fishing at home except there was not a grasshopper in sight, well it was November and still cold in Southland. Team meeting Roger Nella and Dave heads together what are these rising fish eating? Roger Caddis, Nella Duns, Dave Beetles,. Take note of the narrow slick along the high bank in the photo and the strong cross wind. All the fish along the bank were rising in the slick. Good presentation was required. Roger with his special caddis was first up and after a few wind blown casts landed the fly above the fish and this the result. Don't you just love it when a good plan comes together. Speaking of a plan it's early December and we are all back home and the plan is fishing the high banks of the Goulburn with Hoppers.
