The origin of the Prince Nymph is from the American fly tier Doug Prince in about 1941/42. It has changed a little in its forward development to look like our pattern. There are many other variants to this nymph but we feel this is the best. The white tips seem to add to its catch rate ability. It is generally thought of as a Stonefly pattern, but a lot of fishers use it in preference to all other nymphs in their fly box. We have had great success with it in New Zealand.
