This fly in general terms is a hopper pattern.   Its origin comes from a Tassie fly fishing guide by the name of Peter Broomhall.   He played football and his nick name was Bruiser.   So he naturally called it Bruisers Bug.    Many people think it was named after the  lagoon on the Highland Lakes of Tasmania.   Great fly and floats like a cork.

Many thanks Jackson Garth for the information on its origin.
