This fly was first tied by Anthony Boliancu to imitate the fry of Redfin/ English Perch. The fry were first noticed in some of the backwaters of the Goulburn river during Spring fly fishing. As there were no suitable striped flies available the fly tying bench got a workout. The red head on the fly gives a quick impression of gill flash and possibly fin colour. This fly has been used successfully in lakes to catch both Trout and Redfin and also New Zealand trout.
