The new seasons wine is not available yet. Its such a good time to fish the King river as it is very low and cooling down after the hot Summer months of February and March. The trout are back and interested in food.
Small mayfly and duns skittle along the surface, small grey duns drift among them. A snout pushes through the surface and takes one. Looking up the bubble line a large dun drifts down the pool, another snout pushes out and slurps the fly under. There are still caddis in the air which means some pupa are drifting. A Bubble Back Caddis should do it. Give it a try.
If things are a little quiet on the top try a size #18 brown nymph under a dropper. Its probably time to go home now as the sun gets low early in Autumn on the King River.
- Best Practice Tip: Take a bottle of the Brut home to the non fishing partner.
