This must be a very common colour in Mayfly spinners as it seems to abound in Tasmanian rivers and lakes, the Australian mainland and New Zealand's South Island. Being common it comes in many hook sizes. If there are spinners in the air there are generally trout rising for the female spinner as she egg lays on the water surface. Trout will also jump for a low hovering spinner.
