The Nariel - some call it a small river, I like to call it mid sized.
Comes out of rugged bush country into dairy farm country. Again I cannot stress enough that the months pre Christmas are the best fishing.
To get the feeling of the river on arrival, a nymph and well chosen indicator fly will help find out whats going on.
A Miss Knobby X Hopper will be good as there are hoppers about at this time of year. Hatches of caddis and mayfly won't get any greater than right now.
Terrestrials are on the move daily - ants, beetles, cicadas - anything could be happening.
Depending on the Summer (no rain) January, February and March this river can warm up to very high temperatures. 24º you could call it a warm bath. If this is the case then move on.
- Best Practice Tip: Leave these fish alone.
