Seems this fly has been referenced back to 1880 without the beadhead. It is probably one of the most used flies through out the New Zealand trout fishery. It is generally a very scruffy tie representing a number of aquatic insects some of these being emerging Caddis pupa, grey Mayfly nymphs and probably a light coloured Stick Caddis.
