Spring fishing on the Rubicon can be good as there are 12 kms of fishable water. The steep fall after leaving the forest to the confluence with the Goulburn makes for quick clearing.
After Spring rain it is generally high and fast making long droppers the order of the day and tungsten bead head nymphs a must. A big indicator fly helps you keep in touch with your deep drifting nymph.
This river starts high in the Great Divide with spring snowmelt from Lake Mountain keeping the water cold. This makes for small hatches of short duration in the middle of the day.
- Best Practice Tip: Watch your footing in the fast water.
